Testimony from: Apostolic Ministers, Ben & Sarah Ledgerwood

I was a meth addict and an alcoholic for around 13 years. I started using meth at the age of 17. I was bound with what felt like was no escape. In and out of jail and struggling with suicide at times to escape reality. Never thinking I could redeem myself. During a moment of getting sober I remember getting what I thought was saved. Repeating a prayer after someone and later getting baptized in titles. I went out not long after that and went on the wildest binge I had ever went on. Finaly one night I was at the end of my rope with nowhere to go I ended up going to my mom’s. During that time of staying there I ended up going to a Pentecostal service. I remember feeling something different I hadn’t before. It was the anointing. I went up to the alter knowing I needed help and the Lord set me free from meth. I continued on still looking back at the only life I had for so long. I continued drinking and smoking marijuana. The lord working on me at the same time. I started dating Sarah my now wife, she was a functioning alcoholic. we drank together I went to bed drinking and woke up drinking. I ended up verbally abusing her from all the thoughts the enemy put in my mind. We split up for a time. The Lord showed me I had to serve him for my relationship with her to work. We both started going to church. I repented of my sins in her father’s living room. God delivered me from alcohol that day. I started seeking the Holy Ghost and shortly after God filled me with his spirit. As soon as I go the Holy Ghost I quit smoking marijuana and soon after got baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. I now have been preaching the Gospel ever since. -Ben

My name is Sarah; my maiden name is Hood. Growing up I had pretty good childhood. My dad worked two jobs and my mom stayed home tending to us kids. I started drinking and smoking marijuana when I was 13 to 14 years old. I loved the taste of beer and how it made me feel. I was hooked. I got my first DWI at 16 years old and lost my driver’s license. I went through SATOP and spent a lot of money to get it back. I graduated high school and decided I wanted to be a stripper at a club where I could have access to alcohol. I ended up pregnant with my first son. God had other plans for me. When I had my son, I started working at a sawmill. When he was 6 months old, I went back to drinking and smoking marijuana. I was introduced to ice and did this occasionally and loved staying awake getting things done. Continuing with this pattern for some time. I had my second son. Shortly after having him, I had my second DWI. I tried to quit drinking and smoking, but I couldn’t. At this point I didn’t care much about anything. I stared doing cocaine. One night feeling depressed and suicidal, I went to the road and laid on the hill waiting for someone to run me over. Eventually I stood up and started walking back home as a semi-truck drove passed me. I was in a toxic relationship during this time as well. I then had my daughter. That relationship ended when my daughter was 6 months old. Many years later I met my wonderful husband, Ben. Our relationship struggled and my mental health was declining. I found myself with anxiety and was taking medication for it. We separated and when we decided to get back together, we started serving the Lord. I started seeking the Holy Ghost at a tent revival after my husband received it prior. Hands laid on me one night at the revival and I fell under the power of God and the demons I was struggling with my alcohol addiction where casted out of me. The next day in the shower I received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. Soon after I was baptized in the water, in Jesus’ name. Jesus set me free of everything I was struggling with. I am now a willing vessel to be used by him. It is no longer what I want to do but what is it he has for me to do. I enjoy helping in jail ministry and helping to set women free of bondage in Jesus’ name. -Sarah
